Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears (R) unravelled as CNN's Manu Raju asked her about Donald Trump during an interview Friday, hitting out at the host for focusing on "the past" and trying to "trap" her with his questions.

Raju began asking about why President Donald Trump hadn't endorsed her in her run for governor — a contest many Republicans are nervous about because they consider her "all but hopeless."

"This is one of the biggest races in the country. We're two months from the campaign," Raju said, suggesting puzzlement at Trump's silence before Sears interrupted....

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) clapped back when confronted with comments by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in the wake of the Manhattan mass shooting that claimed the lives of an NYPD police officer and four others.

Stefanik has said she intends to run for governor in the future, but was not ready to make an announcement quite yet.

CNN's Manu Raju read Stefanik's social media posts following the tragedy. She aimed at both Hochul and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling him "Kathy Hochul’s very own Commie Mamdani" for participating in the 2020 "Defund the Police" campaign....

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) told CNN on Wednesday that she plans to vote with the Democrats to subpoena all of the files on sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

CNN's Manu Raju reported from Capitol Hill, "Republicans are poised to defy President Trump and join with Democrats to subpoena all of the Epstein files."

Raju called it a "hugely significant move."...

CNN's Dana Bash ridiculed President Donald Trump over a Truth Social post demanding L.A. officials thank him for sending in National Guard troops to quell protests.

"I know that...this is a promise that he gave on the campaign trail to do whatever he could to deport illegal immigrants," Bash said on Monday's Inside Politics. "But what he just posted is, is basically, an arsonist saying, 'You better call the fire department because they've got to come in fast to get the flames out. I mean, that seems like what's going on."

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) came down hard on his party for meddling with Medicaid and possibly requiring co-pays for Medicaid recipients seeking medical care.

"It's reverse class warfare, is what it is," Hawley told CNN's Manu Raju Wednesday. "It's taxing the poor to give to the rich, and I'm totally opposed to that."

Hawley took issue with changes to Medicaid — long considered an untouchable entitlement that Hawley called his "line in the sand" — in the draft House version of President Trump's "big, beautiful" spending bill. ...

Conservative journalist David Weigel, who writes for Semafor, was stunned by President Donald Trump's willingness to believe right-wing talking points about "white genocide" in South Africa.

Weigel appeared as part of the panel on CNN's State of the Union on Tuesday, where Manu Raju played a clip of Trump defending his decision to grant refugee status to Afrikaner farmers.

"They happen to be white. But whether they're white or Black, makes no difference to me," Trump said Monday. "But white farmers are being brutally killed and their land is being confiscated." ...
