As Alaskan Rep. Nick Begich (R-AK) celebrated the Republican win on the "big beautiful bill" Thursday, a CNN host had questions about Sen. Lisa Murkowski's (R-AK) struggles to accept some of the provisions.

Murkowski acknowledged the bill would "harm Americans" but capitulated after winning "carve-outs" for her state on issues like SNAP benefits and Medicaid, "to protect her constituents from its harshest impacts," according to The New York Times.

“Do I like this bill? No,” Murkowski told NBC News on Wednesday. “But I tried to take care of Alaska’s interests. But I know that in many parts of the country, there are Americans that are not going to be advantaged by this bill.”...

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was forced to defend President Donald Trump's massive spending bill when questioned by CNN's Kasie Hunt on Wednesday afternoon.

The interview came as House Republicans stalled action on the bill over cuts to Medicaid and a potential $3 trillion increase to the deficit.

"I'm old enough to remember if there was a bill that added this much to our debt and deficit, I cannot imagine you would be happy about it in those years," Hunt said before asking why Jordan thought the bill was so unpopular....

After Vice President J.D. Vance cast the deciding vote to allow Donald Trump's megabill to pass the Senate Tuesday, opponents took to social media to warn the House that it was up to them to stave off impending disaster for lower-income Americans.

The bill caused a very public breakup of Trump and Musk earlier this month when Musk posted to X, "I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

Monday, Musk posted, "It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people."...

MAGA advocates known for their love of hunting and fishing are fuming over a proposal in President Donald Trump's megabill currently being considered by the Senate, The New York Times reported.

Senators are looking to make cuts to offset the cost of Trump's tax cuts for high-income individuals and corporations. One solution came from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who has proposed selling millions of acres of federal lands in a move that could threaten fish and wildlife prized by outdoorsmen.

"Lee’s proposal would require the Bureau of Land Management to sell as much as 1.225 million acres of public property across the American West," reporter Maxine Joselow wrote. "Proponents have said the region has a severe shortage of affordable housing and that developers could build new homes on these tracts."...

As the clock ticks down for Congress to pass Donald Trump's megabill that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) claimed would be passed by July 4, the president is leaning hard on Senate Republicans to get the job done.

"The Great Republicans in the U.S. Senate are working all weekend to finish our 'ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,'” Trump wrote on Truth Social before listing the litany of benefits to average Americans.
