An Independent Senate candidate in Nebraska is gaining momentum by attacking Republicans with pun-loaded insults as President Donald Trump's cheap foreign beef sours rural voters on the GOP.

The campaign and fallout around it were detailed in a Saturday article by Politico, which found that Trump's plan to lower beef prices has enraged ranchers who usually vote Republican.

The largest school district in Nebraska has told police to stop carrying electric shock gloves, the same kind the Trump administration plans to buy.

According to a Saturday article by The Guardian, Omaha Public Schools Superintendent Matthew Ray requested that school resource officers stop using the electric-shock gloves. The Omaha police agreed two days later.

The move followed reporting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) planned to issue officers the same devices, known as "generated low output voltage emitter" (GLOVE), which have also been used in some jails in recent years, according to The Guardian....

"Have you ever been in a place where you can just feel the pain and the anxiety? That's what it feels like being here in Lexington, Nebraska," MS NOW reporter Rosa Flores said. "... People have described to me what's happening here by using the words 'catastrophe,' 'crisis,' the feeling of being 'collateral damage,' 'hurt,' 'anxiety,' 'agony.'" ...

Can’t stop, won’t stop: Another congressman violates STOCK Act

A dozen lawmakers have now violated a federal conflicts-of-interest and financial disclosure law in 2023 — the latest a Republican representative from Nebraska, according to a Raw Story analysis of congressional financial documents.

Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE) was more than a year late disclosing some of his wife’s purchases of stock in CarterBaldwin, an executive search firm, according to a new congressional financial disclosure.

By law, Smith had 45 days to publicly report his wife’s purchases, all made between January 2022 and February 2023 and together valued between $3,003 and $45,000. (Federal lawmakers are only required to disclose the value of such stock purchases in broad ranges.) ...
