The wanted men who shot up a Bronx train and subway platform during a “chance encounter” between rival gangs that left one dead and five injured are nothing but ‘cowards’ NYPD brass said as they asked the public’s help hunting them down. “Help us take these cowards off the street,” NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry implored during a two-minute video released Tuesday evening titled “NYPD: Most Wanted.” “If you recognize these cowards, please call.” “Six people, six New Yorkers shot,” Daughtry added, recounting the bloodbath on the uptown No. 4 train at the Mount Eden subway st......

National Public Radio stalwart Linda Wertheimer ended 53 years at the storied outlet with a bittersweet note to her colleagues shared online the day after the 80-year-old co-host of “All Things Considered” announced her retirement on Tuesday. “I was incredibly lucky to arrive at NPR when I did, which was at the very beginning, and that’s what I want to talk about today,” her letter begins. “NPR was not yet on the air, ‘All Things Considered’ was barely an idea and nowhere near a program.” She goes on to discuss the many changes she experienced and responsibilities she held during her time at N......

DeForest was transported to Kings County Hospital in critical condit......

A crazed attacker fatally stabbed four relatives — including an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy — and then wounded two NYPD cops before they shot him to death outside his family’s burning Queens home on Sunday morning, according to police. Cops raced to the home on Beach 22nd St. near Elk Drive in Far Rockaway at around 5:10 a.m. after a young girl called 911 to say her cousin was “killing her family members,” NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said. The cousin, identified by police as Courtney Gordon, 38, had moved into the home weeks earlier as he faced homelessness in the wake ......

Several migrant families with children bussed to a newly-opened shelter at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn re-entered a bus shortly after arriving at the massive facility on Sunday, telling the city they did not like the accommodations. City Hall confirmed some families did not want to come to settle at the shelter while acknowledging there was no other placement for migrants if they declined the site. In video taken by local Brooklyn Assemblywoman Jamie Williams, migrant families who arrived to the defunct airfield via an MTA bus with children on Sunday did an about-face and went back on the ......
