MILWAUKEE — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump named his vice presidential running mate today.

It's Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio.

Or is it Sen. JD Vance of Ohio?...

WASHINGTON — In the wake of former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict, America’s about to see GOP unity like never before.

Only this time, Republicans will be unifying around a convicted felon, which should terrify us all, a former Republican congressman tells Raw Story.

“He's a coward. And the guy doesn't like to defend himself. He wants other people to do it for him, just like we saw on January 6,” former Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA) told Raw Story. “The base instinct of Donald Trump is to hide behind the walls of Mar-a-Lago or wherever his homes are and let the sycophants go out there and actually do the battle. So he's scared. He's a bit of a little boy right now.” ...

A thief nabbed a $3,000 check sent by a political committee led by former House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) — the latest instance in an epidemic of thefts involving political committees, according to a Raw Story review of federal campaign records.

A July 2023 check intended for a photographer was “stolen during the USPS mail process and fraudulently cashed,” according to the McCarthy Victory Fund’s year-end report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Jan. 31.

The report indicated that the committee filed a police report, and there were “no wrongdoers or bad actors within the committee.”...

WASHINGTON – Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) isn’t just proud of his faith. He believes his God sent him to Washington to legislate the Bible.

“I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this. I believe that scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God raises up those in authority,” Johnson told his House colleagues when he first addressed them from the speaker’s rostrum last week.

Johnson’s a Baptist. So is Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), who served as Democratic leader for eight years. But Hoyer says that’s about where the comparisons end....

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and the Republican Party have a problem on their hands: The congresswoman’s offensively headline-grabbing ways in Washington have turned her safe Republican seat into a toss-up that promises to be one of the most expensive House races in 2024 — if not in history.

In 2022, Boebert beat local businessman Adam Frisch by a mere 546 votes, but Frisch — who is angling for a rematch — continues to lap her in fundraising for the 2024 cycle.

With a haul of more than $2.6 million for the second quarter, Frisch raked in more than three times Boebert’s roughly $818,000, which she says is because Democrats want to “buy this seat.”...

So the NRCC got caught selling T-shirts that only really make sense if you believe that being a non-Christian is a terrible thing to be and so evil, in fact, that being nice to non-Christians is obviously wrong.
