'Hard or easy?' ICE agents seen using terrifying new tactic to detain immigrants

Investigative journalists with ProPublica published a disturbing video essay showing ICE officers smashing car windows to get to frightened undocumented migrants locked inside.

"We’ve documented nearly 50 incidents of immigration officers shattering car windows to make arrests — a tactic experts say was rarely used before Trump took office," reads the introduction to the piece. "ICE claims its officers use a 'minimum amount of force.' You can judge for yourself."

The essay guides viewers through an initial six videos of ICE agents, some wearing masks and wielding various instruments to break into the vehicles....

After Russian intelligence launched one of the most devastating cyber espionage attacks in history against U.S. government agencies, the Biden administration set up a new board and tasked it to figure out what happened — and tell the public.

State hackers had infiltrated SolarWinds, an American software company that serves the U.S. government and thousands of American companies. The intruders used malicious code and a flaw in a Microsoft product to steal intelligence from the National Nuclear Security Administration, National Institutes of Health and the Treasury Department in what Microsoft President Brad Smith called “the largest and most sophisticated attack the world has ever seen.”...

'They don’t like our decisions': Justice Alito trashes ProPublica in new leaked audio

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito believes news organizations — specifically calling out the investigative news organization ProPublica — is out to get him because "they don’t like our decisions."

That's according to a new recording from liberal documentary maker Lauren Windsor that were obtained Tuesday by Rolling Stone.

In the audio, recorded June 3 at an event hosted by the Supreme Court Historical Society, the questioner asks the justice why he feels the nation's highest court has been "attacked" and "targeted by the media" in recent years....

There’s a tape that both the defense and the prosecution played in summations in former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial. In it, you can hear the chaos of Trump’s office at Trump Tower in September of 2016: Trump seems to be having multiple conversations almost simultaneously. He talks to an unidentified person on the phone. He discusses polls with Michael Cohen, his executive vice-president at the time. Trump and Cohen talk about a diversity initiative and stopping the media from unsealing the records of Trump’s first divorce. His executive assistant pops in with word of a call from a developer. Trump calls for a Coke.

And then, very clearly, you can hear Cohen saying, “I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend, David, you know, so that — I’m going to do that right away. I’ve actually come up and I’ve spoken … I’ve spoken to Allen Weisselberg” — then the Trump Organization’s chief financial officer — “about how to set the whole thing up.”...

Nearly eight years ago, convinced that she’d been treated unfairly, Jessica Denson sued Donald Trump’s campaign for workplace harassment.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas dismisses lavish gifts reports as lies

WASHINGTON — U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who has found himself under scrutiny over his judicial decisions and accepting lavish gifts from a billionaire Republican, is dismissing the criticism as "nastiness" and "lies," according to U.S. media.

"There's certainly been a lot of negativity in our lives, my wife and I, over the last few years, but we choose not to focus on it," the New York Times quoted Thomas as saying Friday at a judicial conference in the southern U.S. state of Alabama.

Staunch conservative Thomas, the longest-serving justice on the court, has been embroiled in controversy since it emerged last year that he had gone on a trip paid for by Republican donor and real estate tycoon Harlan Crow....
