President Donald Trump staged a Thursday morning phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin where they discussed issues including a ceasefire with Ukraine, as well as diplomatic solutions with Iran, Reuters reported.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters that Trump "again raised the issue of an early end to military action" in Ukraine, but that Putin refused to back down from accomplishing his original goals for the region.

"Vladimir Putin, for his part, noted that we continue to seek a political and negotiated solution to the conflict," Ushakov said....

CNN's Inside Politics panel couldn't help but point out the irony of President Donald Trump declaring his love for the Broadway show "Les Miserables" as U.S. Marines arrived in Los Angeles at his direction to keep American citizens in line.

Host Dana Bash invoked lyrics from the musical to set up the discussion.

"President Trump 'dreamed a dream' of a new Kennedy Center. He replaced its entire board and named himself chairman, and tonight returns for opening night of the Broadway classic 'Les Miz.' President Donald Trump is hosting a dinner at his private gold club near Washington, D.C., Thursday night for the top holders of his $TRUMP meme coin, but a report in The Guardian says nearly half of his "winners" have lost millions on the cryptocurrency.

According to last month's announcement, the top 220 holders in a $TRUMP meme coin competition would win a ticket to a gala at the Trump National golf club. The top 25 holders would also get the chance to meet the president at a “Private VIP Reception” before the dinner, and the very top four would win a limited edition Trump Tourbillon watch that sells for $100,000.

The Guardian reported that the announcement "caused the coin to spike more than 50%."...

New reporting from Reuters laid out how DOGE's teenaged senior adviser in the State Department "once provided support to a cybercrime gang that bragged about trafficking in stolen data and cyberstalking an FBI agent."

Cybersecurity reporter Raphael Satter wrote that Edward Coristine's association with the EGodly cybercrime group came to light thanks to digital records reviewed by Reuters.

Coristine has become "the best-known member of DOGE," due to his unfortunate online moniker, "Big B----," and the fact that he holds such a lofty position, despite being just 19 years old. "Musk and others in MAGA have defended the youth of the DOGE team, claiming the whiz kids’ ages should not disqualify them from doing good work," according to The Daily Beast. ...

MILWAUKEE — About a mile north of where Republicans will nominate Donald Trump for president, in a neighborhood where most residents are Black, a storefront with big windows and brightly colored signs stood as a curiosity to people waiting at a bus stop just outside along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

“WISGOP,” the sign says. “Republican Party of Wisconsin Community Center.”

“That’s strange, ain’t it?” said Isaac Dickey of Milwaukee, who was walking in the area. “That (stuff) makes no sense. This is a Black neighborhood.”...
