GOP lawmakers flee reporter's questions about 'grotesque' Trump-endorsed candidate

GOP lawmakers ran away from a reporter who asked them about a Trump-endorsed congressional candidate who made "grotesque" comments.

During an episode of Bulwark Takes, political commentators Sam Stein and Will Sommer called out "MAGA gun YouTuber" Brandon Herrera, who's running for former Rep. Tony Gonzales' congressional seat in Texas with an endorsement from President Donald Trump.

In Herrera's YouTube videos, he praises "the guy who killed Hitler" and makes explicit comments about Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts that Stein and Sommer described as "grotesque." He's running in a "tossup district in Texas, so it's not like this is a safe seat," Sommer said....

Trump releases letter by ex-physician on former president's medical status after shooting

Donald Trump on Saturday released a letter from his former physician, the controversial Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), outlining the ex-president's purported medical condition and saying it was "an absolute miracle he wasn't killed" during a recent rally shooting.

More and more people have criticized the ex-president for his lack of transparency when it comes to actions taken after his ear was grazed by a bullet while he was speaking on stage at a rally in Pennsylvania. He is scheduled to give his first rally since that time Saturday.

Hours before the planned Michigan event, Trump published a letter on Truth Social from his previous doctor. Jackson himself has been accused of running a "pill mill" while he was the White House doctor under Trump....

'Off the rails': Expert slams Trump-appointed judge’s ruling on GOP rep’s Biden lawsuit

'Off the rails': Expert slams Trump-appointed judge’s ruling on GOP rep’s Biden lawsuit

On Friday, a federal judge appointed by former President Donald Trump issued a ruling in favor of a Republican congressman suing President Joe Biden's administration over a foreign policy issue, and one legal expert is questioning the judge's competency.

In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk of the Northern District of Texas sided with Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) by striking down the Biden administration's motion to dismiss. In 2022, Jackson and other plaintiffs sued over federal funding of the United Nation's Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). The plaintiffs‚ notably assisted by the pro-Trump group America First Legal, cited a Trump-era law to justify the lawsuit that cuts U.S. funding to the Palestinian Authority (PA), which has jurisdiction over the Palestinian-controlled West Bank territory in Israel. UNRWA was recently named in another lawsuit alleging that the agency had knowledge that funds allocated for humanitarian aid in Gaza were being siphoned by Hamas — which controls Gaza — to finance terrorism.

Kacsmaryk — a Federalist Society alumnus who was appointed by Trump to the post in 2017 and confirmed in 2019 — ruled in the plaintiffs' favor under the argument that they "regularly visit Israel" and "faced an increased risk of harm" in the wake of Hamas' October 7, 2023 attack on Israel....

Ronny Jackson's posh dining club membership may have violated ethics laws: report

A personal perk indulged by Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) may have breached Congress ethics laws.

Former President Donald Trump's and former President Barack Obama's ex-White House doctor-turned-lawmaker appears to have purchased a private dining club membership with campaign money, according to the Office of Congressional Ethics and first reported by MyHighPlains.com.

They wrote that "there is substantial reason to believe that Rep. Jackson converted campaign funds from Texans for Ronny Jackson to personal use or Rep. Jackson’s campaign committee expended funds that were not attributable to bona fide campaign political purposes," according to the document. ...

Jon Stewart jabs latest Trump flub: 'Under MAGA law, his name is now Ronny Johnson'

Jon Stewart on Monday night hit both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on "The Daily Show," lamenting that this year's presidential election features a pair of nominees so past their primes that each has accused the other of having "soup ... where there should be brain."

In his opening monologue, Stewart laid into Biden over a video — since debunked as misleading — that purported to show Biden wandering away during a G7 summit event in Italy late last week.

"For President Biden it is his habit of seemingly staring at what can only be considered ghosts or out-of-frame paratroopers," Stewart said. "And then, somehow getting pulled back into frame, somehow giving the impression someone has just quantum-leaped into his body." ...

'Sit this one out': Trump 'pill mill' doc called out for saying Biden is 'overmedicated'

'Sit this one out': Trump 'pill mill' doc called out for saying Biden is 'overmedicated'

President Joe Biden's State of the Union Address was broadly well-received by viewers and pundits alike — and did a lot to challenge worries that he lacked the energy at his age to mount an energetic campaign for the White House. In fact, he was so energetic that Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) had a conspiracy theory about why.

"Wow! They over medicated him! Angry, confused, and yelling," Jackson posted to his social media. "I think Hunter may be prescribing his drugs now!"

Jackson's statement earned him heaps of scorn from commenters on social media — most of whom reminded him he was the last one who should be talking, as reporting alleged he handed out drugs freely and was drunk and doped up on Ambien on the job when he served as the White House doctor....
