Why this GOP congressman 'just might' lose his seat: report

Former Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry (R-PA) could lose his seat next month, according to a Sunday report published by Axios.

The staunch conservative, who contributed to Donald Trump's ploy to overturn the 2020 election in the state of Pennsylvania, "has gotten little financial help from GOP leadership so far, with the National Republican Congressional Committee and Congressional Leadership Fund spending effectively nothing on ads in his district as of Saturday," Axios reports.

Meanwhile, according to the report, House members on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and House Majority PAC have either spent or reserved "nearly $3.8 million in ads for" Perry's opponent, former local news anchor Janelle Stelson....

GOP rep Scott Perry deletes antisemitic post when Jewish publication asks about it

Jewish Insider caught Rep. Scott Perry's (R-PA) campaign Facebook page sharing an antisemitic meme about Jewish bankers. When they called for comment, the post quickly disappeared, The Inquirer reported Wednesday.

The reports reveal that the meme depicted a banker with a thick beard, which is generally associated with Jewish Orthodox men. It also had a game board with green dollar bills over it.

“If the people stand … the game is over,” said the caption above the image.

‘No substance’: GOP Rep. Scott Perry castigated at Jeff Clark’s disciplinary trial

Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) was criticized Wednesday for offering a last-minute affidavit in Jeffrey Clark's disciplinary trial.

Moments before closing his case, Clark's attorney, Harry MacDougald, asked to admit one final piece of evidence: an affidavit from Perry. Bar Co-chair Merril Hirsh called a recess to distribute the affidavit to disciplinary counsel Hamilton Fox III.

Fox strongly objected to Perry's submission. The congressman was reportedly central to a plan to overturn the presidential election on Jan. 6, 2021. ...

‘Mean girl on a revenge tour’: Kevin McCarthy has knives out for his ‘Gaetz 8’ tormentors

WASHINGTON — Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy may have been publicly beat down before being booted out of power after just 269 days on the job, but his presence is still being felt in the GOP.

And McCarthy’s got some scores to settle first.

McCarthy’s allies have been on the offense against some of the eight far-right Republicans who cost him his coveted speaker’s gavel last fall and prompted his resignation in December....

Trump-loving congressman hit with lawsuit seeking to disqualify him as an insurrectionist

Former President Donald Trump isn't the only candidate facing legal action to remove him from the ballot under the Insurrection Clause of the 14th Amendment — far-right Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) is as well.

According to ABC 27, Harrisburg-area activist and former congressional candidate Gene Stilp filed the lawsuit, which seeks to have Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt disqualify the lawmaker.

"The lawsuit alleges Perry helped push conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was stolen and advanced efforts to replace the Attorney General with a Trump loyalist," reported George Stockburger. "'Scott Perry was a leading proponent of using the January 6, 2021 Congressional presidential election certification process to disrupt the transfer of presidential administration from Trump to Biden,' says the lawsuit, [citing] the FBI’s seizure of Perry’s cellphone records and other accusations made against Perry following the January 6 attack."...

Jack Smith wins access to GOP Rep. Scott Perry's phone in election subversion case: report

A cell phone belonging to a congressman and suspected key figure in Donald Trump's alleged bid to subvert the 2020 presidential election is going to be able to be accessed by Justice Department investigators now that a federal judge granted it.

A longstanding battle being fought by Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) to shield his cellphone, with nearly 1,700 records in it, from being able to be opened by Justice took a marked turn with Chief U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, The Washington Post reports.

Perry had argued that the phone, which had been seized by the feds back in August 2022, was protected by what the outlet reported as the Constitution's "speech or debate" clause granting Congress members immunity from criminal investigation when carrying out their official duties. ...
