Buffalo-Steelers playoff game postponed until Monday due to winter storm

(Reuters) - The NFL playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and visiting Pittsburgh Steelers has been postponed until Monday due to a winter storm, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said on Saturday. The game, originally scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET (1800 GMT) on Sunday, will now begin on Monday at 4:30 p.m, Hochul wrote on social media. Hochul said she was in communication with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell regarding what are expected to be dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend. Major storm could bring heavy snow from coast to coast: forecast

A massive storm could dump snow across the nation "coast to coast" in the first week of 2024, a new forecast shows.

MSNBC meteorologist Bill Karins Monday detailed the 5-day journey of a strong storm that one computer model shows traveling across country until it hits the East Coast on Sunday, he said.

"We have had one of the worst starts to a snow season ever," Karins said. "The first snow could be a big snow."...

White Christmas dreams: Here’s where Americans are most likely to see snow on Dec. 25

Bring on the Bing, as in Crosby, and let’s dig in to where his snowy White Christmas dreams might come true.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released its analysis of historic snowfall across the U.S. and, here’s a shocker, it’s more likely in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Mountains than in Florida.

The odds are best for at least one inch of snow to fall in areas along the Canadian border, such as Minnesota, Maine and Upstate New York, according to the data-crunchers....

Severe storm to hit from Florida to Maine this weekend: forecast

A severe storm could slam a slew of major cities along the east coast with gusting winds and heavy rain this weekend, forecasts show.

That rain would be snow if it wasn’t so unseasonably warm, the Washington Post notes. It means flooding will be a risk along the Gulf Coast, which could see up to 4 inches of rain.

Tornado threats arrive in Florida late Saturday night, then creep north to Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia Sunday, the Washington Post forecast shows. ...

Massive cold front to bring freak weather to much of U.S.: forecasters

A massive cold front is hitting the nation, bringing with it intense winter weather and, in one state, a threat of wildfire, forecasts show.

A record-breaking cold will expand across the U.S. this week bringing warnings of snow squalls to the Midwest, freeze warnings to Arizona and an increased wildfire threat to California, according to the National Weather Service.

“A potent autumn cold front is set to complete its trek across the CONUS [continental U.S.] by midweek as it pushes through the Gulf Coast and East Coast states by tonight,” forecasters warned Monday....

'Drought' has New Yorkers asking: 'Where's the snow?'

New York (AFP) - The idea of New York in wintertime conjures up images of Manhattan's Times Square and Central Park shrouded in snow. Not this year. The city is forecast Sunday to surpass a 50-year record for the latest first snowfall of the season. It is also close to recording its highest number of consecutive days without any measurable flakes. The snowless streak has New Yorkers puzzled, some questioning their love-hate relationship with the white stuff. "It's really sad," said retired teacher Anne Hansen. "Basically, we don't like to see the snow. But now we're sorely missing it," she tol......
