'Can't imagine you'd be happy': Jim Jordan confronted over megabill live on CNN

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was forced to defend President Donald Trump's massive spending bill when questioned by CNN's Kasie Hunt on Wednesday afternoon.

The interview came as House Republicans stalled action on the bill over cuts to Medicaid and a potential $3 trillion increase to the deficit.

"I'm old enough to remember if there was a bill that added this much to our debt and deficit, I cannot imagine you would be happy about it in those years," Hunt said before asking why Jordan thought the bill was so unpopular....

'Umm...what?' Ex-Tea Party lawmaker stunned by GOP senator's 'admission'

Former Tea Party Republican lawmaker Joe Walsh (IL) voiced his dismay over the state of politics following the retirement announcement by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) because he refused to support the massive spending bill that's now back in the hands of the House.

On Saturday, Tillis declared he would vote against the bill over cuts to Medicaid that put his constituents "at risk." Tillis predictably drew the ire of President Donald Trump who threatened to primary him in the midterm elections. In response, Tillis announced he would not run for reelection because, "I don't bow to anybody."

Walsh said that what happened next was stunning....

'Get a job!' Republican wrangles with CNN host over Medicaid cuts

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) claimed Monday that he believed President Donald Trump's spending bill would ultimately pass once it heads back to the House, and that it will include an 80-hour-a-month work requirement for Medicaid recipients.

CNN host Pamela Brown pressed Zinke about how he'll be able to justify the Medicaid work provision to his constituents.

"The Congressional Budget Office estimates that nationally, the Senate version of Trump's agenda bill would leave 11.8 million more people without health insurance by the year 2034," Brown began, then asked, "How do Republicans explain this to their constituents?"...

'Didn’t vote for this': Trump-voting influencer aghast at MAGA's new plan

MAGA advocates known for their love of hunting and fishing are fuming over a proposal in President Donald Trump's megabill currently being considered by the Senate, The New York Times reported.

Senators are looking to make cuts to offset the cost of Trump's tax cuts for high-income individuals and corporations. One solution came from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who has proposed selling millions of acres of federal lands in a move that could threaten fish and wildlife prized by outdoorsmen.

"Lee’s proposal would require the Bureau of Land Management to sell as much as 1.225 million acres of public property across the American West," reporter Maxine Joselow wrote. "Proponents have said the region has a severe shortage of affordable housing and that developers could build new homes on these tracts."...

'Never seen that happen': GOP clashes over senator's rogue move on Trump bill

Senate Republicans are bashing Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for going rogue as they hash out changes to the House version of President Donald Trump's megabill, Politico reported.

Paul serves as chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which should give him "jurisdiction" over the section of the bill dealing with border security, according to Politico's Hailey Fuchs. But Paul's defiance over increased spending has led committee members to shut him out of negotiations.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has a long history of opposing Paul's more conservative approach to spending, is seeking to override Paul’s jurisdiction in the budget negotiations....

Picnicgate: Trump reinvites Rand Paul to party after fury over 'petty' snub

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who is vocally opposed to President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill," has apparently been re-invited to the congressional picnic planned for the White House lawn.

On Wednesday, Paul said he tried to pick up his tickets to the much-anticipated event, only to be told, "You were not invited."

Paul told reporters on the Capitol steps Wednesday that whoever was behind his picnic rejection was acting in a "very petty way."...
