Five Fani Willis zingers that made the internet declare her a 'boss'

Five Fani Willis zingers that made the internet declare her a 'boss'

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis swore to tell the truth, and if you agree with the people watching her hearing, she did it like a boss.

America tuned in Thursday to the evidentiary hearing where lawyers for former President Donald Trump and his Georgia racketeering case co-defendants quizzed Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade about a personal relationship they argue constitutes misconduct.

While Wade presented, as Willis described it, the demeanor of a "southern gentleman," the Fulton County prosecutor took a more direct approach. ...

E. Jean Carroll's lawyer made a 'very savvy move' that kept Trump in line: ex-prosecutor

Donald Trump has in the past used his courtroom testimonials to spread his beliefs about election interference, but on Thursday his testimony in the E. Jean Carroll case was limited to about three minutes in which he was mostly kept in line. That's in part due to a smart technique by Carroll's attorney, an ex-prosecutor said on Thursday.

The former president's brief set of answers were no accident, according to former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti, who often appears on MSNBC.

Mariotti on social media specifically highlighted a move by Carroll's lawyer, Roberta Kaplan of Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP....

'Federal crime': Legal expert says Ivanka Trump could face criminal charges from testimony

Ivanka Trump is potentially opening herself up to criminal charges by testifying in the civil fraud case surrounding her father, her brothers, and their family company, according to a former prosecutor.

Kristy Greenberg appeared on MSNBC's Alex Witt Reports on Saturday, where she was asked about the civil fraud case against Donald Trump, Don Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization. Trump himself is expected to testify in the case, and Ivanka was previously dismissed as a defendant but must still testify.

Greenberg was asked by the host if Ivanka's testimony "could it change the trajectory of this trial."...

'Fire and brimstone': Legal expert explains how Trump could hurt himself by testifying

If Trump goes scorched earth in court when he testifies under oath — it will backfire.

After finishing his own grilling on the witness seat in the Trump Organization's $250 million fraud trial, former president Donald Trump's son Eric billed his father's upcoming day in court as a chance to bring the smoke.

"My father is certainly going to be here," Eric told reporters. "He's fired up to be here. He thinks this is one of the most incredible injustices that he's ever seen." ...

Trump Jr. testimony will be 'explosive' if lawyers 'poke at him in the right way': Analyst

Donald Trump’s son will likely have a lot to say on the witness stand this week as he tries to prove the New York civil fraud case against his family is nothing more than a witch hunt, a legal expert told Newsweek Tuesday.

Donald Trump Jr. is slated to take the stand Wednesday in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million lawsuit, in which she contends the presidential family defrauded lenders by inflating the worth of the Trump Organization.

"Donald Trump Jr. is more likely to be forthcoming in his testimony and drive home his defense that this is a witch hunt," federal attorney Colleen Kerwick told Newsweek....

'A mistake': Ex-prosecutor says Trump might take the stand against lawyers' wishes

Donald Trump has claimed he would testify under oath in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, and, while it would be extremely misguided to do so, he just might, according to a former federal prosecutor.

Trump is currently fighting charges in connection with the Florida documents case, which alleges he wrongly hoarded documents of all sorts of classifications and then failed to return them when hit with a subpoena. In a recent interview, Trump is seen saying he would testify under oath in connection with security footage he allegedly ordered to be deleted.

Former federal prosecutor Shan Wu had some words of caution on that topic....
