'Traitor!' Onlookers appalled at Trump's latest admission

Social media reaction was swift and furious Tuesday after President Donald Trump posted a Truth Social message telling Vladimir Putin he has protected the Russian president from "really bad things."

"What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD," Trump wrote. "He’s playing with fire!"

The Bulwark's Sam Stein expressed his incredulity on X, posting, "Trump just casually telling everyone he's been helping out Putin?" while anti-Trump Republican group The Lincoln Project declared, "There it is. Trump confirms what we've said all along - he's been protecting Putin this entire time."...

'Most incompetent thing': Experts dumbfounded by perceived shambles of funding freeze

Social media lit up after news broke that the Trump administration's Office of Management and Budget rescinded its order to freeze all federal grants and loans after a judge temporarily blocked the order this week.

The White House released the brief memo Wednesday saying simply, "OMB Memorandum M-25-13 is rescinded."

A coalition of Democratic attorneys general from 22 states and the District of Columbia had filed suit against the federal government, with New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin telling CNN Wednesday that the freeze would put an end to programs that benefit things like seniors' health care, kids' education, and law enforcement. ...

'Intimidated' vendor said to have been 'too afraid' to put up anti-Trump rally billboards

Anti-Trump conservatives at The Lincoln Project have two billboard trucks circling Madison Square Garden during the former president's rally, but those were reportedly almost nixed because of an "intimidated" vendor.

Jacob N. Kornbluh, senior political reporter at The Forward, reported on Sunday that the group of former Republicans is going around the venue where Trump is hosting his controversial rally, and they're "broadcasting their recent ad that features Trump's actual words in German overlaid on footage of Nazi-aligned German forces."

According to The Lincoln Project's chief of staff, those billboards almost didn't make it to the event at Madison Square Garden. ...

Hotel heist: Fraudsters stole thousands from hospitality giant's political committee

WASHINGTON — An "unknown and unauthorized external party" stole nearly $7,500 from Marriott International's federal political action committee — the latest in a string of thefts affecting high-profile politicians, corporations and unions.

The thefts, which took place on Feb. 20 and March 12, according to federal documents reviewed by Raw Story, were not an inside job, the Marriott International Inc. Political Action Committee told the Federal Election Commission.

"The transactions were external fraudulent activity and not the result of committee staff misappropriating funds or due
to a failure to implement internal controls," Marriott International's PAC wrote the FEC on Aug. 6 following an inquiry from the agency in July. "In fact, the Committees internal controls contributed to the quick identification, reporting, and remedy of this issue."...

Wisconsin GOP details aftermath of $2.3 million theft

The Republican Party of Wisconsin has vowed to not get fooled again — at least not like it did in October 2020, according to a letter the party committee sent the Federal Election Commission on Friday night.

After initially losing more than $2.3 million to hackers just days before Election Day 2020, the Republican Party of Wisconsin told the FEC that it's taken "concrete steps" to better defend against fraud after falling victim to one of the nation's largest cybertheft incidents that targeted a political committee.

Trump ally Mike Flynn hit with sanctions bid by ex-Republican he's suing for defamation

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, an associate of Donald Trump who played a prominent role in efforts to overturn the 2020 election, has been hit with a sanctions bid in a defamation lawsuit against a former Republican activist.

Flynn, who held a MAGA doomsday prophecy event last year, reportedly sued former Lincoln Project veterans affairs adviser Fred Wellman for defamation "over three tweets that Wellman posted in February and March of 2022."

"The tweets described Flynn as 'a traitor' and accused him of being a paid agent of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Flynn is seeking $150 million in damages," according to Newsweek....
