Republican operatives fear a midterm "bloodbath" as some blame President Donald Trump's shenanigans, including doxxing a GOP senator seeking reelection.

CNN White House correspondent Kristen Holmes reported Tuesday on "Erin Burnett OutFront" that she has spoken with a number of Republican operatives, many of them involved in key races, conducting polling or working with donor PACs, and that the mood has turned grim.

"You've got people freaking out saying they worried it could be a bloodbath," Holmes said. "And you have other people resigned to the fact that they are going to lose the House and potentially even the Senate."...

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) isn't backing down after President Donald Trump publicly targeted him over permanent daylight saving time. Trump even posted what appeared to be Cotton's personal cell phone number.

"For some reason, Tom is stopping the Bill and, in the Senate, it's very easy to do, it only takes one!" Trump wrote, according to the Associated Press. "If Tom Cotton were putting Arkansas first, he would give them an extra hour of daylight."

Trump told his followers to call Cotton and "tell Tom to, GET IT DONE!" His post included what appeared to be Cotton's personal cellphone number, with an Arkansas area code, the AP reported. Trump did the same thing to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) during the 2016 campaign....

Trump posted the number of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and urged Arkansas residents to call him and pressure the senator to drop his opposition to the Sunshine Protection Act because changing clocks is "very expensive for our Nation."

Legendary Democratic veteran strategist James Carville told the Politicon podcast that everyone is sleeping on a Senate race that no one saw as possibly a candidate to be competitive.

All across the country, Republicans are scrambling as the Senate map shifts against them, pulling money out of states like North Carolina where polls show them all but hopelessly behind, and shoring up incumbents in red states where Democrats are putting up a surprising fight, like Kansas.

But one of those red states that no one seems to be paying attention to, Carville said, is Arkansas — where Democratic farmer Hallie Shoffner is mounting a bid against Sen. Tom Cotton....

President Donald Trump's order to halt the nomination process for director of national intelligence sent Republican lawmakers scrambling on Wednesday, according to CNN.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) announced just an hour before Jay Clayton, Trump's pick for the job, was set to testify before the Senate confirmation hearing that it was being postponed after the president told Clayton not to show up, CNN anchor Brianna Keilar reported.

"The president is accusing lawmakers of moving too fast to confirm Clayton, and he's vowing to hold up a critical spying measure, FISA reauthorization, unless a separate voter ID measure, separate and unrelated, by the way, is attached to it," Keilar explained....
