Timothy Mellon, heir to Gilded Age industrialist Andrew Mellon, has continued to pour tens of millions into the campaigns of former President Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Republican congressional candidates in 2024.

Mellon has pumped over $165 million into the 2024 election, making him the top donor fueling outside spending groups this year. Mellon is known as a “guardian angel donor,” a term given to contributors who are a political group’s top donor and account for more than 40% of the group’s funding....

WASHINGTON — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told Raw Story that the biggest mistake the Republican Party made was not choosing a candidate firmly behind former President Donald Trump to run in the New York Third District special election.

Disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was expelled, and a new election was called, which Greene called their first mistake. It's a bad precedent to set to expel a member of Congress, she said.

"We shouldn't have lost that seat to begin with," she told Raw Story, meaning Santos. ...

Newly elected Tom Suozzi, who flipped the seat left vacant when New York Republicans helped remove George Santos, laughed off an awkward situation on Tuesday.

Suozzi, who defeated a Republican who conceded earlier that night, was just about to start his victory speech when a protester stormed the stage and continued yelling, "Stop supporting genocide! Cease fire now!"

The U.S. House of Representatives has formally expelled Rep. George Santos (R-NY) because of numerous alleged financial fraud and crimes and numerous congressional ethics violations.

But Santos’ potential replacement — himself a one-time congressman — has a history of financial ethics issues, too.
