Former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt warned Sunday that President Donald Trump will become more dangerous as the midterm elections approach.

“Judgement day is coming for MAGA,” Schmidt wrote in his Substack newsletter, The Warning. “When it arrives the national danger will deepen. Trump will become more unhinged and erratic in the days and weeks ahead.”

“Though it may not seem like it because it has gone on for so long the truth of the matter is the crisis is just beginning,” he added....

Former Vice President Mike Pence tore into President Donald Trump this weekend over the president's decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel. Pence called the move “a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.”

“President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense,” Pence wrote on X.

He accused Trump of “fueling the Putin’s war machine” instead of “implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact.”...

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) said over the weekend he will force a House vote to block Russian oil purchases. The move directly challenges President Donald Trump’s new diesel deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Axios reported.

Fitzpatrick co-chairs the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. He said he would introduce the “Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act” and use a discharge petition to get around Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). A discharge petition needs 218 signatures to bring a bill to the floor without leadership’s approval.

“It will be forced to the Floor via discharge and it will pass overwhelmingly,” Fitzpatrick wrote on X....

The Trump administration will implement a new rule next week that it expects will reduce the “amenities and compensation” airlines provide to travelers, sparking uproar among critics.

“No more cheap airlines, we are paying through the nose for flights now — and, under Trump, all the consumer protections we had are gone,” wrote Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Julie K. Brown in a social media post on X. “This doesn’t hurt wealthy people; it only helps airlines that overbook their flights and create havoc that leads to delays.”

Taking effect Oct. 19, the new rule will change how airlines classify certain flight delays and cancellations. Specifically, it will exclude 10 causes of delay and cancellation from disruptions considered to be within an airline’s control, including certain unscheduled aircraft maintenance and certain government system failures....

President Donald Trump drew a fierce wave of backlash after he suggested a U.S. ally fighting off an invasion should replace its leader.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had "better d— well stop" striking oil refineries in Russia, arguing the attacks were affecting diesel and hurting American farmers. "I think it's time for Ukraine to get a new president," he said, per clips of the moment.

When a reporter pointed out that Ukrainians are suffering under Russian attacks, Trump doubled down. "I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal," he said....
