MSNBC viewers took to social media on Sunday to slam the network, as well as one of its hosts, for letting a Donald Trump surrogate "steamroll" through an interview without much pushback.

Jason Miller, senior advisor to the 2024 Trump campaign, appeared on MSNBC over the weekend, where he was interviewed by host Chris Jansing.

"You had a plan against Joe Biden. You are confident you could beat him. So how has your strategy changed, and do you think the math has changed?" Jansing asked. ...

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has grown far too powerful, and could permanently alter the government established by the framers if current trends continue, according to a conservative legal expert.

On Saturday, Norman Ornstein — who is an emeritus scholar at the Koch-funded American Enterprise Institute — offered a frank and stunning condemnation of the Court in a post to X (formerly Twitter). After a wave of controversial rulings in the final week of its 2023-2024 term, Ornstein opined that the Supreme Court is rapidly transforming into courts seen in authoritarian governments seen in other parts of the world.

"I wonder how long it will take before Americans wake up to the brutal reality that the US Supreme Court has staged a coup, brazenly seizing power from the other two branches in a way that is utterly contrary to the framers vision of the role of a court and a judiciary," he wrote. "And it is crystal clear that if [former President] Donald Trump wins, the Supreme Court will be much closer to the Russian or Hungarian courts than the one in our constitution."...

Former President Donald Trump's conviction in the felony hush payment case in Manhattan predictably led to a firestorm of condemnation and recriminations against the legal system by Republican officeholders across the country — but in some cases, it also led to a civil war against the few Republicans who had any words of caution.

That was laid bare vividly on Thursday for former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, now the Republican nominee for Senate in that state.

"Regardless of the result, I urge all Americans to respect the verdict and the legal process," Hogan posted to X that afternoon. "At this dangerously divided moment in our history, all leaders — regardless of party — must not pour fuel on the fire with more toxic partisanship. We must reaffirm what has made this nation great: the rule of law."...

Judge Aileen Cannon's "disqualification cup runneth over" in Donald Trump's criminal document-handling and Espionage Act case, a former federal prosecutor said.

Ex-prosecutor Glenn Kirschner went on MSNBC on Saturday, where he was asked if Cannon is "the reason that Trump may not face trial before" the election.

"And how do you see the ruling for their quest to bar him from making statements that could endanger law enforcement? Because this is different than requesting a gag order, right?" the host added....
