Jim Jordan demands Jack Smith hand over Trump indictment documents: reporter

Three Republican lawmakers demanded Special Counsel Jack Smith hand over all documents linked to his indictments of former President Donald Trump.

House Oversight Committee members James Comer (R-KY), Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) signed a letter demanding “all documents and communications” between Smith’s office and Justice Department pertaining to Trump.

"It’s time Jack Smith and the DOJ answer to Congress," Luna wrote on X. "Jack has until December 15 to provide me, along with @RepJamesComer and @Jim_Jordan , with ALL communications and documents about indicting @realDonaldTrump and where he got his authority to do so.""...

New order shows Judge Chutkan still keeping Trump on 'tight schedule': reporter

Judge Tanya Chutkan is running a tight ship from the federal bench overseeing Donald Trump's criminal case in which he and others stand accused of conspiring to flip the 2020 election in his favor.

In her Wednesday filing, the judge sets a deadline of Oct. 25 for Special Counsel Jack Smith to file a response to Trump's legal team about seeking potential subpoenas for Jan 6 committee documents and materials.

‘It all came flooding back’: Trump indictment hard on lawmakers left in House Gallery on January 6

WASHINGTON – This week’s indictment and arraignment of former President Donald Trump was something some lawmakers trapped in the U.S. House Gallery on Jan. 6, 2021 didn’t expect to see, but there were no celebrations when the moments arrived. A part of them still mourns.

The first thought to flash through many minds wasn’t of Trump arrested, it was flashbacks of themselves and others facing likely injury and potential death — “hang Mike Pence” still rings in many ears.

January 6 and being trapped in the Gallery with my colleagues, worrying about my staff and all of the staff inside the Capitol and around the campus. It truly, it all came flooding back to me,” Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) told Raw Story the night the indictment was announced....

Trump impeachment manager on indictment: 'Damning, damning, damning'

WASHINGTON – While some lawmakers on Capitol Hill thought former president Donald Trump would never face the justice system over the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) tells Raw Story she never doubted the day would come.

She’s also struck by the historical importance.

“This is so not normal. We talk about it as if, ‘OK, here’s another indictment.’ This is so not normal,” she said....

Legal expert explains why Giuliani is more worried about Georgia than DOJ

The news that Rudy Giuliani, formerly a member of Donald Trump’s legal team, was interviewed by federal investigators in connection with special counsel Jack Smith’s election interference probe has fueled speculation that Giuliani is looking to cut a deal with the Justice Department.

But a potential federal case isn’t the former New York City mayor’s most pressing concern, according to legal analyst Lisa Rubin.

Giuliani is also facing potential charges in Georgia in connection with the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election that are likely much more worrisome, Rubin said Wednesday during an appearance on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.”...

'Increasingly solid every day': Ex-Trump White House lawyer hails Jack Smith's case against Trump

Former President Donald Trump's one-time White House attorney Ty Cobb warned that the former president is facing down serious legal jeopardy in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case on Wednesday's edition of CNN's "OutFront."

This comes amid a bombshell report in The Washington Post that not only were classified documents on display for many to see at Trump's country club, but that employees conducted a "dress rehearsal" at his demand to help him figure out which documents he wanted to conceal from authorities.

The evidence that Trump committed a crime here, said Cobb, is "increasingly solid every day."...
