'Not good!' Analyst makes startling comparison of Trump and Reagan's reaction to crises

President Donald Trump's assertion that his own "common sense" told him all he needed to know about the mid-air collision over the Potomac proves just how much he doesn't want to get involved in learning facts and taking action, according to a new article in The Atlantic.

Trump is a "passive" president more intent on pontificating and "Making America Great Again" in theory, rather than taking charge and actually leading, argues Atlantic staff writer David A. Graham.

Take Trump's middle-of-the night TruthSocial post about the crash as the tragedy was unfolding, he wrote....

Anti-immigrant Trump post suggests fire-hit Californians paying 'for own destruction'

Donald Trump fanned the flames of suspicion against undocumented migrants Tuesday by placing blame for the Los Angeles fires on "illegal immigrants" and an "inept" government that misuses homeowner tax dollars.

The president-elect, who has been widely critical of California's Democratic administrations, including Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), began his argument on social media Tuesday afternoon, "The actual irony...a home owner consents to pay property taxes that will go to the fire department. The funds are diverted to illegal immigrants because LA is a Sanctuary City."

Trump provided no evidence that taxpayers' money had been diverted away from fire fighting towards supporting immigrants....

Trump attacks 'fired' Jack Smith in late night rant after special counsel resigns

Trump attacks 'fired' Jack Smith in late night rant after special counsel resigns

President-elect Donald Trump gloated on social media early Sunday morning, erroneously claiming that special prosecutor Jack Smith was "fired" by the Department of Justice in the days before Trump was set to retake the White House.

Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022 to investigate federal cases against Trump, including the attempt to overturn the 2020 election results, and Trump's alleged attempt to conceal classified documents that belonged to the national archives. The investigations led to criminal charges that were ultimately dropped after Trump won the 2024 presidential election.

Smith made no formal announcement about his resignation, which appeared as a footnote "buried in court papers," The New York Times reported....

'Fake News!' Trump furious over report he's looking to drop central campaign promise

'Fake News!' Trump furious over report he's looking to drop central campaign promise

President-elect Donald Trump fired back at The Washington Post on Monday, calling claims that he's close to breaking a key part of his campaign pledge "just another example of Fake News."

The Post story, written by White House economics reporter Jeff Stein, claimed that instead of moving forward with Trump's campaign pledge to impose "universal tariffs" of up to 20 percent on all goods imported to the United States, Trump's team is now considering tariffs only for "certain sectors deemed critical to national or economic security."

Stein cited three anonymous sources in the story, and wrote that changing the parameters of universal tariffs "would jettison a key aspect of Trump’s campaign pledge, at least for now." Stein added that, "no decisions have been finalized and that planning remains in flux."...

'No': Trump's latest demand gets curt shutdown from White House spokesperson

'No': Trump's latest demand gets curt shutdown from White House spokesperson

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre answered two pointed questions about incoming President Donald Trump's social media comments on Friday.

The first had to do with Trump's assertion on TruthSocial that "The Democrats are all 'giddy' about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at 'half mast' during my inauguration. They think it's so great and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don't love our country, they only think about themselves.

"In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"...

'That is false!' CNN's Acosta corners GOP operative about latest Trump immigration claim

'That is false!' CNN's Acosta corners GOP operative about latest Trump immigration claim

A frustrated Jim Acosta unleashed on a Republican operative for defending Donald Trump after the president-elect continued to tie the issue of illegal immigration to the New Year's Eve terror attack in New Orleans.

Neil Chatterjee, who served under Trump as commissioner and chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, spoke with Acosta on CNN Thursday.

Acosta referred to Trump's TruthSocial post from Wednesday where he wrote, "When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department.” ...
