Investigative journalists with ProPublica published a disturbing video essay showing ICE officers smashing car windows to get to frightened undocumented migrants locked inside.

"We’ve documented nearly 50 incidents of immigration officers shattering car windows to make arrests — a tactic experts say was rarely used before Trump took office," reads the introduction to the piece. "ICE claims its officers use a 'minimum amount of force.' You can judge for yourself."

The essay guides viewers through an initial six videos of ICE agents, some wearing masks and wielding various instruments to break into the vehicles....

A Nobel Prize-winning economist believes Americans are souring on the Trump administration's draconian immigration policies because they finally realize "they've been lied to" about the inherent "criminality" of people fleeing oppression and looking for steady work inside the United States.

In a new Substack article, Paul Krugman cited a recent Gallup poll showing that "When asked if immigration is generally a good thing or bad thing for the country, a record-high 79% of U.S. adults call it a good thing; a record-low 17% see it as a bad thing."

In addition, "30% of Americans want immigration decreased, down from 55% a year ago," with more Americans rejecting Trump's border wall and mass deportation policies....

MAGA attorney Mike Davis started a MAGA meltdown when he blamed Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts for a lower court ruling he claimed gave undocumented migrants "due process rights."

Davis's denunciation referenced a ruling by Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines that upheld a 21-day notice period for migrants to challenge their deportations instead of the mere seven days currently allotted by the Trump administration.

Davis posted to Truth Social, "We The People never agreed to give illegal aliens—especially foreign terrorists—constitutional due-process rights related to their expulsion. Not at our founding. Not after the Civil War. Not in any Congress since then. Certainly not after the last election. This is a serious and unacceptable violation of our sovereign rights. John Roberts and his Supreme Court colleagues are squarely to blame."...

During a tense meeting with ICE officials, Trump aide Stephen Miller strongly suggested that agents target convenience stores for undocumented migrants in an effort to up their arrest tallies, according to a report in The Washington Examiner.

The outlet spoke with three current and former federal immigration officials who recounted how Miller upbraided about a dozen ICE agents for their low deportation numbers and suggested where they might find more potential marks.

“Miller came in there and eviscerated everyone. ‘You guys aren’t doing a good job. You’re horrible leaders.’ He just ripped into everybody. He had nothing positive to say about anybody, shot morale down,” an official told the news outlet....

A Missouri town that voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in the 2024 election has come to regret its choice after a beloved neighbor was detained by ICE, according to The New York Times.

In the farming town of Kennett, MO, population 10,000, Times reporter Jack Healy met with residents who "supported in theory" Trump's tough talk on immigration. Now they're rallying around a Hong Kong immigrant named Ming Li Hui, who went by "Carol" in her adopted hometown.

"In the 20 years since she arrived from Hong Kong, she had built a life and family in Kennett, working two waitressing jobs and cleaning houses on the side," Healy wrote. He quoted a Kennett city councilwoman who said, “Everyone knows Carol."...

Dairy farmers who voted for President Donald Trump are worried there will be no one around to milk the cows now that the administration is cracking down on "otherwise law-abiding immigrants in the country illegally," The Boston Globe reported.

Farmers in Vermont told the Globe they voted for Trump because they liked his tough talk on quelling immigration and closing the border. Things are different now that ICE is coming for their workers.

“All the dairy farmers who voted for Trump were under the impression they weren’t going to come on farms and take our guys,” one farmer said. “It’s happening more than we’d like. It’s scaring the farming community and we’re like, ‘This wasn’t supposed to happen.’”...
