‘Better lawyer up’: WSJ editorial board warns Trump family over Don Jr. antics

‘Better lawyer up’: WSJ editorial board warns Trump family over Don Jr. antics

The Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial board delivered a blunt warning to President Donald Trump’s family on Friday as scrutiny continues to grow over Donald Trump Jr.’s business dealings: “Better lawyer up.”

“Does the Trump family know what is about to hit them?” the board asked, warning of subpoenas, investigations and congressional testimony over the family’s cryptocurrency investments “and other deals that have enriched them while President Trump is in office?”

The editorial board pointed to Sen. John Curtis (R-UT) as a reason the Trump family “might want to pay attention.” ...

WSJ editorial board buries Trump for Powell attacks after watchdog clears him

The Wall Street Journal's editorial board says a new watchdog report has ended President Donald Trump's criminal pursuit of Jerome Powell.

In an editorial published on Wednesday, the board wrote that the Federal Reserve inspector general found poor management but no criminal conduct in the central bank's headquarters renovation. It also called on the former Fed chair to step down from the board of governors.

Fed Inspector General Michael Horowitz released his report Wednesday. It examined cost overruns on the renovation of the Marriner S. Eccles Federal Reserve Board Building and an office complex across the street. The project was budgeted at $1.3 billion. The latest estimate has nearly doubled to $2.4 billion, and the work is running about three years behind schedule....

Trump throwing away key swing state with his disastrous move: WSJ

Trump throwing away key swing state with his disastrous move: WSJ

President Donald Trump's tariff wars are threatening to put a key swing state Republicans are hoping to contest out of reach, the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board warned on Friday.

In Michigan, Democratic public health official Abdul El-Sayed, an avowed progressive, is taking on Congressman Mike Rogers, and polls show a close race. Trump, however, has given El-Sayed an inadvertent gift with his constant meddling in trade policy, the board argued.

"Businesses that import goods embed the tariffs into their prices, sometimes in stealthy ways," wrote the board. For example, "Cox Automotive this spring found that Mr. Trump’s tariffs drove a 10.4% increase in the average suggested retail price for new cars. Michigan Smart Trade Alliance estimates tariffs have cost the state $26 billion since January 2025, or about $6,419 per household."...

WSJ editorial board torches Trump for 'frivolous' feud: 'Are we really doing this again?'

The Wall Street Journal editorial board let loose its frustration as President Donald Trump keeps trying to oust Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

In a Thursday op-ed, the conservative-leaning board chimed in on Trump's attempts to remove Cook from the Federal Reserve. Trump tried to summarily fire her last year after accusing her of mortgage fraud, but the Supreme Court overturned the move in June. The White House sent a letter to Cook on August 5 that let her know that Trump "is considering removing you," and The Journal sounded exhausted by the ongoing feud.

"Are we really doing this again?" The Journal's op-ed opened. "It's no secret that these claims about Ms. Cook's mortgage are a pretext, dug up by MAGA chihuahua Bill Pulte."...

Scott Bessent mocked after raging against 'backroom gossip': 'Super weird take'

Scott Bessent mocked after raging against 'backroom gossip': 'Super weird take'

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent drew online scorn after he tried dismissing a damning report as 'backroom gossip.'

On Wednesday, Bessent publicly attacked Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos because of a report about him pulling the Federal Reserve into President Donald Trump's efforts to prop up the Japanese yen. In a post on X, Bessent slammed Timiraos and his reporting on the Trump-appointed Federal Reserve chairman, Kevin Warsh.

"One of the highlights of the Warsh Fed has been watching stenographers posing as journalists, like the WSJ's Nick Timiraos, reduced to reporting Fed backroom gossip," Bessent wrote. "They're incapable of performing real economic or monetary policy analysis without being spoon-fed."...

Trump shrugs as Wolf Blitzer details his assault on the press in WSJ award speech

Trump shrugs as Wolf Blitzer details his assault on the press in WSJ award speech

The White House Correspondents' Dinner faced an awkward moment on Friday when CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer confronted President Donald Trump with his attack on journalism.

Blitzer was onstage to present reporters from The Wall Street Journal for bombshell reporting last year, exposing Trump's lewd birthday poem from decades ago to late billionaire financier and child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, in which he sketched an image of a naked woman and wrote, "may every day be another wonderful secret."

As Trump sat there, listening to all of this, Blitzer added, “Trump filed a lawsuit against The Journal, revealing a reporter's home address.”...
