In a new article for The Bulwark, conservative writer William Kristol hypothesized how Donald Trump's late attorney and fixer, Roy Cohn, has guided the president from beyond the grave and helped him tally a spate of achievements in the White House.

Of the "big, beautiful bill" that finally landed on his desk after months of posturing, Kristol imagined Trump thinking, "The key is the $170 billion for the internal police. I saw early on—maybe it was the ghost of Roy Cohn whispering in my ear—that 'mass deportation' was the path to seizing and consolidating power."

The hypothetical Trump continued, "So, yeah, the mass deportations have started, and they’re not going to stop. We do that for the next few years, keep the issue front and center—and meanwhile get ICE built up, and get people used to using the military at home. 'Boiling the frog slowly'—that’s another great expression Roy loved to use. I guess he invented it."...

Conservative writer William Kristol is blaming Donald Trump for killing MAGA's winning "America First" slogan as he continues to meddle in foreign affairs.

The isolationist "America First" motto was coined by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 as he pledged to keep the U.S. out of WWI. Trump used it in his 2024 campaign to rail against globalization, but that's far from what's been happening during his second term, Kristol wrote in a new article for The Bulwark.

Under the headline, "'America First' Is Dead And Donald Trump Killed It," Kristol wrote, "The fact is, for all the talk about rejecting 'globalists,' the experience of the Trump administration is one of intervening, repeatedly, in global affairs."...

Americans are "not alarmed enough" by President Donald Trump's federalization of the National Guard to secure Los Angeles, conservative columnist William Kristol claimed in a new piece for The Bulwark.

Kristol invoked President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 that freed "all persons held as slaves," claiming that Trump was trying to undo the historical document's declaration that "the Executive government of the United States, including the military and naval authorities thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of said persons."

"One might call [Trump's directive] the Usurpation Proclamation," Kristol wrote. "And while this weekend’s mobilization of two thousand National Guard troops in Los Angeles has alarmed many observers, I suspect we aren’t alarmed enough by this presidential order, which has implications far beyond this one action in one place."...
