'DEFCON-1 warning' in Trump trial argument: analyst

An argument made by Donald Trump’s attorneys in one of multiple court cases the former president faces serves as a “DEFCON-1 warning” to what his reelection would entail, a new analysis contends.

Trump giving hints he's 'lost faith in his attorneys': legal expert

Appearing on CNN, former prosecutor Karen Friedman Agnifilo suggested Donald Trump's attempt to present the closing argument in his $370 million financial fraud trial playing out in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday was unprecedented and a sign that he thinks he can do a better job than his three attorneys handling the case.

Speaking with CNN host John Berman, Friedman Agnifilo pointed out that Judge Artur Engoron was right to put limitations on Trump if he was allowed to speak — which Trump and attorney Christopher Kise refused to agree to -- but Trump's demand spoke volumes about Trump's opinion of Kise and fellow Trump attorneys Alina Habba and Clifford Robert.

Stating that should Trump be allowed to speak on the grounds that "there was a lot less risk that a jury pool could be tainted by inappropriate information that could come out in a summation," the former prosecutor claimed she felt Trump is unhappy with his legal representation.

Fox News is pretending its 'lovers quarrel' with Trump 'never happened': ex-GOP strategist

The Biden era has seen a great deal of reporting on tensions between right-wing Fox News and former President Donald Trump. In March 2023, for example, Trump angrily railed against Fox News on his Truth Social platform, slamming them as a "group of MAGA hating Globalist RINOS" who were "aiding & abetting the destruction of America."

Trump was especially critical of Fox News' Rupert Murdoch, who reportedly, was enthusiastic about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a presidential candidate. But that enthusiasm faded when DeSantis' presidential campaign floundered.

Oregon voters suing to block Trump from ballot say they don’t need to prove harm

Attorneys representing the Oregon voters who are suing to keep former President Donald Trump off the ballot insisted in court documents filed this week that they don’t need to prove they’d be harmed by Trump running for election.

The Oregon Supreme Court last week asked the voters, who are represented by two Portland attorneys and the national advocacy group Free Speech for People, to file an additional brief explaining whether they had a right to sue in the case and whether Oregon law allows Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Valade to determine whether a presidential candidate is qualified to serve. With final documents filed late Tuesday, the court can issue its decision on the case at any time.

Morning Joe hosts stunned by 'old man' Trump's latest 'incredible political mistake'

Reacting to answers Donald Trump gave during a "softball" town hall on Fox News on Wednesday night, the entire "Morning Joe' staff was stunned by what co-host Joe Scarborough called an "incredible political mistake" made by the former president.

After showing a clip of Trump bragging about his part in overturning Roe v. Wade — a political minefield for GOP lawmakers — the hosts said the former president didn't do his third campaign for president any favors.

"He bragged about 'terminating' Roe v. Wade. He said, 'If it weren't for me, that 10-year-old girl in Ohio that an illegal immigrant raped, if it weren't for me, she wouldn't have had to flee the state. If it weren't for me, women wouldn't be, like, dying outside of emergency rooms because doctors are afraid to conduct women's health care,'" Scarborough explained. "He admitted — again, it was such an easy forum, it's not like he was backed into the corner — he admitted he was the one who terminated Roe v. Wade. What did the Biden people do last night? They're just hanging out. They were probably laughing at all the Republican chaos in the debate."

"He's grown so old and hobbled intellectually, I guess," he added. "He thinks he is running against Barack Obama, he's worried about World War II starting."

"Even in the most gentle of circumstances, he made an incredible political mistake, and he knows it this morning— he knows it," he elaborated. "Incredible political mistake last night. 'I was the one who terminated Roe v. Wade. I was the one, just me, nobody else could have stripped away 50 years of women's rights the way I, Donald Trump, did."'

Shaking his head he added, "The old man did it again."
