Special Counsel Jack Smith is arguing with Donald Trump's lawyers over the timeline to convene a jury in the Florida classified documents case, The Messenger reported on Thursday.

'That's ridiculous': Columnist slams N.Y. Times report on Dems seeking Trump 'cure-all'

A report from The New York Times suggests that Democrats are using the 14th Amendment as the "cure-all" to stop Donald Trump. Washington Post political columnist Greg Sargent is calling the report a lazy assessment.

"For as long as Donald J. Trump has dominated Republican politics, many Democrats have pined for a magical cure-all to rid them of his presence," the Times piece states. "Then, on Tuesday, came what appeared to be an out-of-the-blue act of deliverance from Denver. Colorado’s top court ruled that Mr. Trump should be disqualified from holding office on the grounds that he incited an insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, a decision that is likely to end up at the U.S. Supreme Court."

Trump camp plots how to use Colorado disqualification in campaign attack: report

Former President Donald Trump's team is already trying to come up with a way to use his disqualification from the ballot in Colorado in campaign attacks against President Joe Biden, reported Politico on Thursday.

"During an appearance in Iowa early this month, Trump called Biden a 'destroyer of American democracy.' Trump argued that Biden was using the justice system against him, despite there being no evidence that the president has had any connection to the four indictments Trump is facing," the outlet reported. "The Trump campaign has distributed black and white signs to supporters that read 'Biden Attacks Democracy,' and at a recent event Trump stood underneath a large banner emblazoned with the same phrase."

Trump ramps up plans for new police powers — except the ones investigating him: analyst

Former President Donald Trump has an "absurd" new plan to expand the rights of American police, even as he rages against those investigating him, legal experts told The New York Times Thursday.

Trump's new proposal would "indemnify" on-duty police officers, essentially shielding them from misconduct lawsuits, despite already high immunity standards that make legal cases against officers hard to win, Michael Gold reported.

Strict reading of the law supports Colorado ruling — but SCOTUS won't: columnists

University of Baltimore School of Law professor Kimberly Wehle wrote Thursday that a strict constitutionalist that follows the letter of the law would support the ruling from the state of Colorado this week to ban Donald Trump from the ballot.

Fox News hosts: ‘Left’ wants to foment ‘violence’ and ‘civil unrest’ with Colorado ruling

Two of Fox News' top hosts are suggesting "the left" and "Democrat politicians" are trying to foment "violence" and "civil unrest," by using as a catalyst the Colorado Supreme Court's Tuesday ruling that found because he engaged in insurrection, the U.S. Constitution prohibits Donald Trump from serving as President.

Fox News host Jesse Watters Wednesday night in a lengthy segment (video below) declared the Colorado ruling was a "judicial assassination," "voter elimination," a "legal coup" by "some unelected judge," and that "four Democrats in robes stole your vote." He later posted the photos of the four justices.
