Trump's demand to dismiss fraud trial denied in scathing ruling: report

Judge Arthur Engoron Monday relentlessly mocked Trump, his attorneys and his financial expert in a scathing rejection of the former president’s fifth dismissal request in his $250 million fraud case, according to a new report.

Engoron slammed accounting expert Eli Bartov, the NYU professor who was reportedly paid nearly $900,000 to testify that Trump’s financial records did not fraudulently inflate his worth, as is contended by New York Attorney General Letitia James, ABC News reports.

Trump's million-dollar expert 'lost all credibility': Fraud trial judge says

By Luc Cohen NEW YORK (Reuters) - An expert witness paid nearly $1 million by Donald Trump to testify at his New York civil fraud trial "lost all credibility" by "doggedly" justifying the former U.S. president's business records, the judge overseeing the case said on Monday. Eli Bartov, a New York University accounting professor, testified on Dec. 7 that he did not see any evidence of fraud in Trump's family real estate company's financial statements, which New York state's attorney general alleges overstated property values in order to win favorable loan and insurance terms. Bartov testified ...

Here's the video that could help Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss win a lawsuit against Trump

Former President Donald Trump's ally Rudy Giuliani faces a $148 million judgment for pushing lies and conspiracy theories about Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss after their lives and reputations were completely derailed by threats and harassment.

But Giuliani could be just the beginning, argued MSNBC's Ali Velshi on Monday — the former president himself could end up on the hook as well.

MAGA triggered by Black people in Jill Biden's White House Christmas show: columnist

There’s a reason MAGA conservatives were unable to articulate what they hated about First Lady Jill Biden’s White House holiday show, argues Salon’s Amanda Marcotte.

“It's plain bigotry,” writes Marcotte. “The first smiling face we see in the video is a Black woman. Throughout the video, many of the dancers read as people of color and queer people. Plus, the music is jazz, not classical. We are apparently at that point in fascist development where they reject syncopated rhythms as decadent and emasculating.”

Trump again appeals Judge Chutkan's gag order after being shot down by D.C. court

Attorneys for Donald Trump have asked the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to give the former president a second chance to appeal a limited gag order in his election subversion case.

In a filing on Monday, attorneys John Lauro, Todd Blanche, and D. John Sauer argued that a three-judge panel violated Supreme Court precedent when it found that D.C. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan correctly placed a gag order on participants in the trial.

'Destroy the whole house': MAGA fans say they're just fine with Trump's dictator comments

Attendees at Donald Trump's rallies over the weekend uniformly don't have any worries that he said he'd love to be a "dictator" for one day if he is reelected, with some claiming he's just taunting his critics — and others saying that the U.S. system of government needs a good housecleaning.

In interviews with USA Today's Riley Beggin, MAGA supporters were pressed to explain how they can stand behind the former president who, to other's eyes, is edging close to full-on authoritarianism, if his recent comments are taken seriously

An influencer convicted for election interference and with a history of sharing racist and antisemitic content is being defended by Donald Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr., according to a new CNN report.

'Bad-faith gaslighting': NY Times blasted for running op-ed declaring Trump 'moderate'

Jonathan Last, a one-time conservative pundit who grew isolated from the Republican Party due to its embrace of former President Donald Trump, shredded the New York Times for publishing an editorial that he described as "bad-faith gaslighting."

The editorial in question, written by Matthew Schmitz, argues that former President Donald Trump is actually a "moderate" on policy issues who is only guilty of rhetorical excesses that his critics falsely use to paint him as an authoritarian menace.

'Deadly serious': Legal expert warns Trump not to overlook delayed criminal case

Donald Trump’s New York criminal case involving accusations of hush money paid to an adult film star who claimed she had an affair with him before he became president has largely been overshadowed by Jack Smith's investigations — but it should not be overlooked, according to a new legal analysis.

Joyce Vance, a former U.S. Attorney and legal expert for MSNBC, released this week a massive guide to Trump’s multiple civil and criminal cases — that includes an important note about the one that has recently been less-covered in New York City.

DeSantis says Trump not a danger to democracy and should have gone further while president

Ron DeSantis, performing poorly in the polls, on Monday insisted his main opponent for the GOP presidential nomination, Donald Trump, is not a danger to democracy despite the ex-president’s fascistic remarks over the weekend.

“No,” DeSantis told MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski when the “Morning Joe” co-host asked “Do you think Donald Trump is a threat to democracy?”

DeSantis busted after whining about Trump's 'Big Lie'

An extended whine by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) about Donald Trump's likely reaction should he lose either the Iowa Caucus or the GOP primary in New Hampshire was thoroughly dismantled with a reminder of his own dabbling in elections conspiracy theories when it suits his needs.

At issue was DeSantis telling reporters days ago, "If Trump loses, he will say it’s stolen no matter what, absolutely. He will try to delegitimize the results. He did that against Ted Cruz in 2016. He will do that.

Trump-Putin 'sinister special relationship' has corrupted conservatives: ex-GOP insider

David Frum, a one-time Republican insider who served as a speechwriter to former President George W. Bush, argued that former President Donald Trump's influence is the only logical explanation for why so many Republicans have found it acceptable to hold military aid for Ukraine hostage.

Writing in The Atlantic, Frum argued that it was impossible to imagine the pre-Trump Republican Party hanging an American ally out to dry so blatantly, especially given that the GOP used to be much more hawkish on Russia than Democrats.
