MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin had some tough words for Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) after the former speaker unexpectedly announced he would resign from Congress.

"McCarthy follows two other leaders, Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan, the trio, believe it or not, this is a real book, were once called the 'Young Guns' of the GOP," Mohyeldin told the audience on his Saturday show. "And now, as you can see, they're all out of Congress. And yet there is something about McCarthy throwing up the white flag that feels uniquely pathetic, I should say."

Donald Trump may already be in violation of a limited gag order affirmed by a U.S. Appeals Court late Friday after giving a speech at the 111th New York Young Republicans Gala on Saturday night.

According to the Guardian's Hugo Lowell, the former president lashed out at former Attorney General Bill Barr who is expected to be called as a witness where he will testify about his admonishments to Trump that there was no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election that he lost.

According to former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman, Donald Trump is putting himself at unnecessary risk if he chooses to testify on Monday in his defense in Judge Arthur Engoron's courtroom.

Speaking with MSNBC host Alex Witt on Sunday afternoon, Litman pointed out that the former president has already lost the $250 million financial fraud case based on an earlier ruling from the judge and the continuing deliberations will be used to arrive at the financial penalties Trump and the Trump Organization will be liable for.

Litman suggested that the former president likely relishes the idea of boasting about his real estate empire and it's worth, but, by taking the stand, he is opening himself up to cross-examination by prosecutors which has the potential to go off the rails.

As he noted, the former president will be pressed by prosecutors to explain away the over-evaluation of his properties and won't have the option of refusing to answer.

'He might not take the stand because there is little for him to gain," Litman predicted, "Remember, this is a judge trial, the judge is going to decide against him and he will, as his son did, give the sort of rosey infomercial for the public. That would be the reason he would testify."

"But, it means he will have to face cross-examination and it won't be like last time when the AG on direct, let him just go on and on," he continued. "They call cross-examination the greatest legal tool ever invented for the discovery of truth, and they can ask, and they are ready to ask very pointed questions. 'Mr. Trump, you knew this wasn't 30,000 feet. You knew it was ten. Yes or no?' Boom, boom, boom. And the judge will enforce that, right? So he [Trump] doesn't stand much to gain on his direct testimony, and does stand to lose on the cross so we'll see what happens."

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani blamed Barack Obama — the nation's first Black president — for a deterioration of race relations in the United States.

On his Sunday radio program, Giuliani called Democrats "the party of slavery."

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said he expected Donald Trump to "adapt" and discard his authoritarian tendencies when he realizes Americans don't want a dictator.

The former House speaker made the remarks during an interview that aired on CBS' Sunday Morning program.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) dropped the hammer on Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) on Sunday morning for her hypocrisy in using a House hearing on antisemitism on college campuses to grandstand on the topic while supporting Donald Trump who has a history of catering to white supremacists.

Speaking with MSNBC host Ali Velshi, Raskin, who is Jewish, said the Catholic Stefanik needs to get down off her "high horse."

The controversial Stefanik launched into furious tirades aimed at the presidents of Harvard, Penn and MIT last week over their equivocations on whether calling for the genocide of Jews constitutes bullying and harassment on their respective campuses.

Video of her grilling of the academics quickly went viral — in large part because the New York Republican flooded social media with clips of herself — and Raskin pounced on MSNBC.

"Where does Elise Stefanik get off lecturing anybody about antisemitism when she's a huge supporter of Donald Trump who traffics in antisemitism all the time?" Raskin exclaimed.

"She didn't utter a peep of protest when he had Kanye West and Nick Fuentes over for dinner — Nick Fuentes, who doubts whether October 7th even took place because he thinks it was some kind of suspicious propaganda move by the Israelis," he pointed out.

"The Republican party is filled with people who are entangled with antisemitism like that and yet, somehow, she gets on her high horse and lectures a Jewish college president from MIT," he added.

During an appearance on MSNBC on Sunday morning, Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell suggested that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has put Donald Trump on notice that he can expect no plea deals or mercy and that she fully intends to see that he goes to jail.

Speaking with MSNBC host Katie Phang, Lowell elaborated on his report about a fiery exchange of emails between Willis and Trump's attorneys and said they set the stage for the Georgia prosecutor's "endgame" in the sprawling racketeering case related to accusation of 2020 presidential election interference.

During an appearance on CNN early Sunday morning, former federal prosecutor Shan Wu laughed and seemed baffled why Donald Trump attorney Alina Habba chose to go on Fox News last Friday and admit she doesn't want her client to take the stand on Monday.

Appearing with CNN host Amara Walker, Wu was asked what he expected Trump to say and do when he takes the stand on Monday in Judge Arthur Engoron's courtroom on Monday to defend himself in the $250 million financial fraud trial.

First stating, "A lot could go wrong; he's a bad witness for everybody, he meanders a lot when he's on direct, he meanders a lot on cross, if he gets hostile on cross that's not a very good look for him.," the attorney added, "It is a bench trial, it could be less damaging than before a jury, and it may mean nothing because the judge has already decided the important parts of the case."

Changing gears he brought up Habba's appearance on Fox where she told host Martha MacCallum that she advised her client to boycott appearing and that he is ignoring her advice.

"First of all, usually, you don't get in front of the cameras and say what you advise the client— it's kind of privileged," Wu laughed.

"Second of all, it seems wrong," he continued. "I mean, no one is going to find he violated a gag order by testifying. I mean: apples and oranges. The gag order is don't talk about the trial outside of the courtroom, not that you're not allowed to testify. So it just seems odd."

According to one former federal prosecutor, it is finally time for Judge Tanya Chutkan to put some bite into her attempts to keep Donald Trump from trying to intimidate witnesses and courtroom personnel by plopping him in jail to get his attention.

In an interview with Newsweek, former prosecutor Neama Rahmani claimed the former president has been the recipient of far too much leeway from the courts after gag orders have been issued and that it is time for the D.C judge overseeing his federal election case to send him a message next time he defies her.
