The United States Constitution is a remarkable and precious document. It was also written in 1787. Back when it was illegal to walk down the street with a chicken on your head.

The men who wrote it were trying to design a government for a country with fewer than four million people — that’s just twice the population of Manhattan. Where information traveled by horse, an “assault weapon” required you to stop and reload after every shot, and foreign interference in an election would have involved a guy getting off a boat carrying a suspiciously large sack of pamphlets.

Maybe it’s me, but the document that pretty much governs everything we do, more than 250 years later, could use an update....

Deters is a Kentucky attorney, former congressional candidate and longtime Trump donor who has apparently reached the conclusion that Kimberly Guilfoyle — Donald Trump Jr.’s former fiancée and Trump’s ambassador to Greece, who was publicly ordered to resign Tuesday — is, to use his own description, a “wicked, evil person.”...

The recent White House decision to bar CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the premises has produced the predictable mixture of outrage, legal analysis and hand-wringing. Our ‘Free Speech” president announced the ban on September 18, accusing the outlets of publishing what he called “FAKE NEWS.” By the following morning, reporters from all three organizations were being turned away and having their credentials disabled or confiscated.

But amid the noise, something unusual happened.

C-SPAN showed some backbone....

There are plenty of ways to exercise power in Washington. Pass legislation. Kill legislation. Twist arms. Control committees. Bury investigations. Force votes. Block votes.

And then there’s Mike Johnson’s preferred method:
