Israel pulls troops from southern Gaza but says war far from over

The Israeli military chief of staff said on Sunday that even though troops are being withdrawn from the southern Gaza Strip, the six-month-old war in the Palestinian territory is far from over.

"The war in Gaza continues, and we are far from stopping," said Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, who serves as chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

No Israeli embassy is safe, adviser to Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei says

An adviser to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says Israeli diplomatic missions around the world could become targets of retaliatory attacks in response to the bombing of the Iranian embassy in Syria blamed on Israel.

"The [anti-Israeli] resistance front is ready for all possible retaliation scenarios and no Israeli embassy worldwide is safe from it," General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a former commander of Iran's elite army forces, said on Sunday, according to state broadcaster Al-Alam.
