I was really impressed by Cara's four part piece on how the demonizing of Yoko Ono is a classic tale of how racism and sexism work out culture. Here's the first part. Before you start flipping out and saying that you hate Yoko Ono for reasons that are pure and have nothing to do with the social punishments meted out to Japanese women who are perceived as uppity, please read the four posts. It's well worth your time.

Cara said she wasn't a fan of Ono's music, even though she defends her as an artist and as a person. I'll go a step further and say that a lot of Ono's stuff is pretty fucking cool, and you can see how her influence helped make John Lennon the cool Beatle, the one who hung out at Max's Kansas City and cut tracks with David Bowie and was, legend has it, inspired to pick up music after a long break when he heard the B-52s for the first time. So, the Genius first pick is Yoko Ono.

Obviously, I have a weak spot for dance pop.

I got a new camera from Marc for Christmas! It's a Sony Cybershot, and I love it, especially the display. So cat pictures will be of a much better quality.

Molly has taken to camping out on my pillow, sometimes when I'm even sleeping in the bed:
