During post-election analysis Tuesday, MSNBC's Chris Matthews made a little-noticed but sharp-tongued zing at Fox News competitor Glenn Beck.

"He’s a weeper," MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said, speaking of Speaker-in-Waiting John Boehner, who broke into tears after Republicans retook the House. "I mean there’s people in cable news that we all know who part of the way they connect with people is by weeping. It’s one of the things he does. And I think it’s probably moving to him that he’s Speaker."

Maddow appeared to be referring to Glenn Beck, who's been known to tear up on his Fox News show.

"Don’t compare him to Beck," Chris Matthews fired back. "Don’t compare any human being to Glenn Beck."

Beck has even been known to fake tears, as he did for a GQ photo shoot.

"The crying was my idea, and Glenn was cool with trying it," photographer Jill Greenberg told Gawker. "We used mentholated balm to make his eyes tear up naturally. From then on it was acting on his part. He had fun with it and was a great sport."
