Japanese energy firm TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) has released a map of radiation levels at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. TEPCO officials began the map in late March as a means of protecting workers from unnecessary radiation exposure during the cleanup effort at the plant.

On April 6, workers began to clear debris, which has been hindering the cleanup process. Plant controllers measured the levels of radiation around the four reactors, finding that levels were highest around the Number Three reactor building, but contaminated debris is strewn all around the site.

The area around the plant's former office building has been cleared and work is currently concentrating on reactors 3 and 4. Enough wreckage has already been removed from the site to fill 50 containers, which are being kept in a field on a nearby mountainside.
