Hospitals brace themselves for an influx of explosive injuries every Fourth of July weekend, but they surely couldn’t have predicted this particular batch of patriotic injuries: Five Civil War reenactors in Gettysburg, Penn. were injured when lightning struck, the Associated Press reported.
At about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, lightning struck a tent pole in the Confederate artillery camp, organizers on the Gettysburg Anniversary Committee said in a statement. Five were taken to a hospital, two with moderate injuries and three with minor injuries. One person is in stable condition, two were treated and transfered to another hospital and two were treated and released.
