Eight people were injured in a lightning strike at SeaWorld's Discovery Cove water park in Orlando, Florida, authorities said.

"Three guests and five employees suffered from an indirect strike shortly before 5:00 pm (2100 GMT)," said park spokesman Nick Gollattscheck.

"Some of the victims reported a tingling sensation and were taken to local hospitals as a precaution," he added.

A storm was passing through central Florida at the time of the incident at Discovery Cove, where visitors can swim with dolphins, snorkel and walk through a tropical park.

By late Tuesday, the three guests and three of the employees had been released, while two employees remained hospitalized and were still being evaluated, Gollattscheck said.
