Alleged White House shooter claims he’s Jesus
The man who is accused of firing an AK-47 at the White House last week believes President Barack Obama is the “Antichrist,” and he should know because he also claims to be Jesus.
Following his capture in Pennsylvania this week, Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was charged with attempting to assassinate the president of the United States.
Monte McCall, who helped Ortega-Hernandez edit an infomercial in July, told authorities that the suspect believed the world was going to end in 2012.
“He said, ‘Well, you know the president is getting ready to make an announcement that they’re going to put GPS chips in all the children, so they’re safe,'” McCall recalled. “… And then he said, ‘That’s just what the Antichrist is going to do to mark everybody.'”
In a video made at Idaho State University in September, Ortega-Hernandez revealed that he was the second coming of Christ.
“It’s not just a coincidence that I look like Jesus,” he said in the video. “I am the modern-day Jesus Christ that you all have been waiting for.”
During the manhunt which began after the shooting last Friday, authorities claimed Ortega-Hernandez had a history of “mental health issues.”
But his mother, Maria Hernandez, insisted to the Idaho Falls Post Register that he was completely sane.
“He has different ideas than other people, just like everyone, but he was perfectly fine the last time I saw him,” she reportedly said. “He might be saying weird stuff that sounds crazy, but that doesn’t mean (he) is crazy. He might be confused and scared.”
Authorities believe that he fired nine rounds at the White House Friday night while President Obama and First Lady Michele Obama were in California. If convicted of attempted assassination, Ortega-Hernandez could spend the rest of his life in prison.
