Rep. Allen West (R-FL) might be watching a little too much cable TV.

While recently celebrating the 238th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, the Florida congressman took a swipe at Occupy Wall Street protesters by comparing them to the criminal biker gang depicted on FX's Sons of Anarchy.

"We remember them today in celebration of our hard fought freedoms and liberties," West said of the original tea party, according to Broward-Palm Beach New Times.

"In the future we shall look back upon the 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters as the Sons of Anarchy," he added.

During their first four seasons, the "Sons" have been involved in gun running, drug trafficking, bribery, pornography, murder and other various crimes.

It's remotely possible that West, who has ties to the Outlaws -- a real motorcycle gang -- was confusing "Sons of Anarchy" with "sons of violence," a name the British gave to the group that plotted the Boston Tea Party.

But more likely, the tea party congressman was trying to insult the Occupy movement.

It was only a few days earlier that West had compared the Democratic Party to Nazi Party Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.

"If Joseph Goebbels was around, he’d be very proud of the Democrat Party because they have an incredible propaganda machine," West told reporters. "Don’t start taking my words and twisting it around. I’m talking about propaganda."
