This is the 1935 British film version of Dickens' "Christmas Carol," and though the special effects may be a bit creaky, it's probably richer than any other version in the atmosphere of 19th century London.


I've also got to admit that Marley's ghost appearing as a face on the door knocker totally spooked me out when I saw it on TV as a kid, and I've never forgotten it.
