Newt Gingrich's cash-starved campaign has begun charging supporters $50 to have a photograph taken with the Republican presidential candidate.
"Some campaigns make you travel all the way to Wall Street to pay $2,500 for a photo with a candidate," a Gingrich spokesperson told National Journal on Monday.
"We are trying out a new tactic and asking our supporters at our rallies for a nominal donation. And guess what, it is working."
The campaign has also promised to publish the photos on their website if supporters fill out a form providing credit card information.
The latest campaign finance reports showed that the former House Speaker's presidential bid was about $1.6 million in debt. Funds have also begun drying up at the pro-Gingrich Winning Our Future super PAC.
