The Fox affiliate in Orlando, Florida made a glaring mistake Sunday afternoon, labeling a neo-Nazi organization as a "civil rights group" in both a broadcast and online report.
The National Socialist Movement (NSM), labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "neo-Nazi group" that idolizes Adolf Hitler, was included in an uncritical report by WOFL-TV's Jennifer Bisram about their move to conduct armed patrols to protect "white citizens" in Sanford, Florida in wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting.
Bisram repeatedly called the NSM a "civil rights group" without mentioning the group's history or challenging its motives.
An article on WOFL's website about the story originally had as its headline, "Civil rights group patrolling Sanford." The story has since been republished under a new headline “Neo-Nazi group patrolling Sanford” with the same video report.
