A gynecologist who was dismissed from Johns Hopkins this month for allegedly taking photos of his patients was found dead at his home on Monday, police told The Baltimore Sun.

The hospital confirmed that 54-year-old Nikita A. Levy was fired earlier in February after a co-worker came forward with claims that he used personal photography equipment to create images of his patients, only some of whom have been notified.

"Any invasion of patient privacy is intolerable,” a hospital spokesperson said in a statement to the paper. “Words cannot express how deeply sorry we are for every patient whose privacy may have been violated.”

Police were investigating allegations of his misconduct as sex crimes.

The spokesperson added they were told Levy committed suicide, although the exact cause of death was not reported.
