President Barack Obama will announce nominees for commerce secretary and US trade representative on Thursday, a White House official said.
Penny Pritzker, an experienced and successful businesswoman, will be nominated as commerce secretary. She has worked in real estate, hospitality, senior living, financial services and other industries, the official said.
The nod for US trade representative has gone to Michael Froman, currently Obama’s top advisor on international economics and charged with coordinating the administration’s policies on international trade and finance, the official said.
Both nominees were to be presented at a White House ceremony at 1400 GMT.
