According to a report from Politico, pro-Trump media outlets including One America News and Newsmax are jockeying for seats in the White House briefing room in order to gain a forum where they can harass the new administration of President Joe Biden.
With daily briefings returning under new White House press secretary Jennifer Psaki, the scramble for seats in a briefing room is more intense than ever with COVID-19 restrictions reducing seating from 49 spots to a meager 14.
Josh Hawley slammed for railing against 'the muzzling of America' — on the front page of the New York Post
In an op-ed published by the New York Post on Sunday, January 24, Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri complains bitterly about what he claims is "the latest form of cancel culture" in the United States: being lambasted for his unwavering support of President Donald Trump following the 2020 presidential election. But Hawley's op-ed wasn't buried deep inside the pages of the Post, which ran it as a cover story. And the far-right Republican and Trump loyalist is drawing a great deal of criticism for claiming that he exemplifies "the muzzling of America" in light of the fact that a major newspaper in the largest city in the U.S. gave him the front cover to make his bogus claims.
In his op-ed, Hawley writes, "On behalf of the voters of my state, I raised a challenge to the presidential electors from Pennsylvania after that state conducted the election in violation of the state constitution. Maybe you agree with me. Maybe you don't. But whatever your view, Corporate America's rush to cancel those it dislikes should trouble you."
Leaving Mitch in the ditch: Trump loyalty may prove too potent a force for McConnell to handle
It took a little longer for the inevitable post-election Republican implosion than might have been expected. Perhaps they were exhausted from all the excitement of witnessing a historic violent insurrection or maybe they are just aimless without former President Donald Trump's Twitter feed to guide them. It's possible they were a little bit gun-shy since people are being investigated for committing sedition all over the country after their assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. Whatever the reason, the normally voluble Republicans went uncharacteristically quiet for a few days during Joe Biden's Inauguration week. That silence ended over the weekend after two state Republican parties decided it was time to deal with the traitors in their midst.
In Arizona, the party reelected Kelli Ward — a Trump fanatic who lost her bid for the GOP nomination to the Senate in 2018— as the state chairman and her first order of business was to offer a censure motion against a raft of prominent Republicans, including former Senator Jeff Flake, Cindy McCain, the wife of former Senator John McCain and sitting Governor Steve Ducey, all for the crime of failing to be properly loyal to Donald Trump. The first two are vocal critics and didn't vote for Trump, but Gov. Ducey has been a loyal minion whose only crime was refusing to break the law and somehow give Donald Trump more votes in the election.
