Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) attempted to correct his wife on Tuesday, saying she misspoke when she referred to abortion as "a woman's right," Bloomberg News reported.
"From time to time we'll stick the wrong word in the wrong place, and you pounce upon it," Perry was quoted as saying to reporters at a campaign event in New Jersey for GOP senatorial candidate Steve Lonegan.
However, Perry did not identify how his wife Anita misspoke on Sept. 28 when she said at a forum hosted by the Texas Tribune that even though she does not support abortion, that it "could be a woman's right, just like it's a man's right if he wants to have some kind of procedure."
Perry's administration has been staunchly opposed to not only abortion, but reproductive health as a whole, most notably by his support of legislation banning the procedure after the 20-week mark and threatening the majority of his state's womens' health facilities.
