Michael Dunn was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder for killing an unarmed black teenager during a dispute about loud rap music.
Dunn shot and killed 17-year-old Jordan Davis in 2012 outside of a Jacksonville convenience store, and claimed the shooting was in self-defense.
Dunn said he thought Davis and his friends, who were in an SUV, pointed a shotgun at him after he told them to turn their music down. He fired 10 rounds at the vehicle, and three shots hit Davis.
“I meant to pull it 50 times if that’s what it took to save my life,” he told the Florida jury on Tuesday. “I deliberately defended myself. There was nothing accidental about it.”
