CNN dumps host Reza Aslan after profane tweets about Trump

Reza Aslan, the host of CNN's Believer, has been dropped by the network less than a week after he went off on a profane Twitter tirade against President Donald Trump.

Variety reports that CNN has cut ties with Aslan, the Iranian-born author whose show Believer debuted earlier this year.

"CNN has decided to not move forward with production on the acquired series Believer with Reza Aslan," the network explained in a prepared statement. "We wish Reza and his production team all the best."

Aslan came under fire from conservatives last week after he slammed President Trump as a "piece of sh*t" for using last weekend's terrorist attacks in London to slam London Mayor Sadiq Khan and to again advocate for his proposed travel ban from multiple Muslim-majority countries.

"This piece of sh*t is not just an embarrassment to America and a stain on the presidency," Aslan wrote. "He’s an embarrassment to humankind."

CNN also recently cut ties with comedian Kathy Griffin after she posed for a photo holding what was supposed to be Trump's severed head.
