During Thursday’s White House press briefing, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had an interesting choice of words when attempting to dismiss questions about President Donald Trump’s “anthem tantrum.”
As Urban Radio Networks correspondent April Ryan asked the press secretary for a clarification on what the president intended with his days-long rant about athletes taking a knee during the national anthem, Sanders cut her off by saying, “I don’t think there’s much to clarify — it was pretty black and white there.”

Twitter immediately jumped into action about the off-the-cuff remark.
“An unfortunate sequence in that characterization,” BuzzFeed’s Darren Sands wrote.
“Was wondering if she deliberately said that or if she’s not clever enough to realize,” another Twitter user wrote.
“Probably the most (inadvertently?) honest things she’s ever said up at that podium,” yet another said.

Sanders (Press Secretary) on Trump v. NFL: "There's nothing to clarify here. I think it's pretty black and white." Can't make this up guys 😂

Oh. @PressSec on POTUS stance on national anthem: It's pretty black and white.

"It's pretty black and white" is probably not the best way for WH to describe the President's take on national anthem discussion.

It really is all "pretty black and white there." Thanks for the confirmation, Sarah. We knew it was all about racism.

Indeed, it is as Huckabee says, "pretty black and white there." 🙃 https://t.co/vylCLPmUWi

LOL at @SarahHuckabee for saying the NFL issue is "pretty black and white" and not even getting the irony of her own words.

Unfortunate phrasing at today's WH briefing part two: Sarah Sanders says WH stance on national anthem protests "is pretty black and white." https://t.co/dFJEoJ4Vtw

"I don't think there's much to clarify, it [taking a knee] is pretty black and white…”
Fair play for admitting itpic.twitter.com/cDNxHrFPtt
