School board candidate blames LGBTQ people for terror attacks because they called her ‘a rascist’
A woman running to be a Public School Trustee in Calgary, Alberta posted a message to Facebook this week blaming LGBTQ people for Islamic terror attacks, said Friendly Atheist blogger Hemant Mehta on Friday.
“Here’s a thought: If you’re running for the school board, don’t post a message on Facebook that blames gay people for a terrorist attack involving a Somali refugee,” Mehta wrote.
According to Mehta, Karen Draper — who goes by “Karyn” on Facebook — is “running to become a public school board trustee in a part of Calgary, a city not far from where Abdulahi Hasan Sharif recently drove his vehicle into a crowd of people then got out and stabbed a police officer.”
Draper took to Facebook to vent her anger and frustration over the incident, placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the LGBTQ community.
“LGBTQ R U 2 DUM 2 C,” she wrote. “THE TERRORIST ATTACK IN EDMONTON IS YOUR FAULT AS WELL.”
Her logic, as Mehta explained it, is that LGBTQ people lean left, politically, which means they tend to support immigration. The attacker in Edmonton was a Somali refugee, which means non-heterosexual people are to blame.
“And if you don’t understand that logic, you must be 2 dum 2 c da trooth,” Mehta quipped.
When Draper was called to account, she explained that she wrote the post because almost all of the LGBTQ people she’s ever met have been counter-demonstrators who called her “a rascist” at rallies where she was protesting against immigration, sounding the alarm about “Islamic terrorism” and calling for Canada to close its borders.
“I actually had a validated reason for writing what I did because almost every lgbt member I’ve met has been counter protesting our events against m103, the open borders, and against Islamic terrorism. Calling me a rascist. [sic] They have been violent here in Calgary,” she wrote.
She continued, “Also just to clear up, I spelt dum like that on purpose. I don’t do crack or meth and even though I dressed up as a bag of weed 10 years ago. A drug test would prove I am not high. I really don’t care how any of you get your rocks off.”
