Oklahoma teen stabbed after stepping in to protect woman from husband's assault at Walmart

An Oklahoma teen was rushed to the hospital late Friday after being stabbed by an intoxicated man at a Shawnee Walmart.

The man, 57-year-old Roy Dean Harjo, said that he came to Walmart to pick up his wife. He was allegedly intoxicated and got into an alteration with his wife. He then assaulted her, The Shawnee News Star reported.

At that point, a 17-year-old and a group of friends attempted to intervene. According to reports, Harjo pulled out a knife and threatened a store manager. Ultimately, he stabbed the victim.

The Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center shows a Roy Dean Harjo, 57, who was jailed on a complaint of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Harjo is scheduled to go before a judge on Monday.

The teen was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital and is expected to recover.
