Shep Smith smacks down Nunes and GOP's anti-FBI memo: ‘They offer absolutely no facts’

While explaining House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes' (R-CA) overhyped "Justice Department abuses" memo, Fox News host Shep Smith blasted the secretive four-page document.

"Some Republicans say that memo could provide grounds for shutting down special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation," the host said, "but they offer absolutely no facts." So far, the House has kept the contents of the memo under wraps, keeping it secret even from the FBI and Senate Republicans

He also brought up Democrats' pushback against the document, which they say is "misleading" and "distorts information."

Last week, the Huffington Post reported that the four-page memo is little more than a list of anti-DOJ talking points — and was written by GOP staffers.

Following his comments about the lack of factual evidence surrounding the dossier, Smith brought on Axios' Alayna Treene, who discussed the ways in which Russian bots have promoted the #ReleaseTheMemo hashtag that's spurred right-wing interest in Nunes' document.
