Conservative Democrat Joe Manchin (D-WV) has become well known for being as close to the GOP as any Democrat in Congress. Yet, when it comes to the Republican Party's false memo throwing accusations at the FBI, Manchin wasn't pulling any punches.
During an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, Manchin said "Devin Nunes has neutered the confidence people could have in the House Intelligence Committee." He qualified it by saying, "pardon the pun," however.
Nunes certainly has had the boldness to fly in the face of his own reputation to disseminate a memo the FBI has deemed misleading and missing information. In the Senate Intelligence Committee, Manchin said they will operate at a higher level.
In the GOP-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee, which was not granted access to the memo, Manchin said they will operate at a higher level.
"The Senate Intelligence Committees [chairs] are working together," he continued. "They will work together. We will come out with our findings working together. Not trying to defeat each other individually. I cannot believe how they are operating, and under the guidelines they we are all supposed to operate under, trying to come to the facts, the findings that we have released to the people, they have confidence in. It's just absolutely unbelievable to me."
