A St. Louis woman took to Facebook with a video of an encounter she had with a security guard during a visit to an Applebee's at the Independence, Missouri shopping mall, The Kansas City Star reported.

Alexis Brison was shopping with a friend when they stopped at the restaurant to eat. The staff accused the women of running out on their bill the night before — but they hadn’t even been there the previous evening.

"About an hour into out dinner we were approached by a Independence police officer, a mall cop, and the restaurant manager [sic]," Brison wrote in a Facebook post. "We were told that we were accused of eating and not paying for CHICKEN the day before (dining and dashing)."

Brison wrote that the two women had proof that they were elsewhere the night before but it didn't matter. They were "mocked, humiliated and embarrassed."

"We were asked to pay for our food, leave, and not come back," she wrote.

When calls were made to the restaurant and to the manager, the women learned that the accuser only remembered that there was a "skinny girl and a girl who wore makeup."

"In 2018 is this really what we’re debased to? Our weight and whether or not we wore makeup," Brison wrote. "She could not recognize any facial features or any defining characteristics."

The women are alleging racial profiling was at the source of the accusations.

"Just because we are black does not mean we are all criminals and I will not be treated as such," Brison wrote.

Applebee's staff and owners "said they've found no indications of any racial bias," The Star reported.

“Our team has been working throughout the weekend and will continue to work to determine what happened and what appropriate measures will be taken,” said local franchise CEO Bill Georgas.

“We do not tolerate racism or bigotry of any nature,” he said in the statement. “We currently have no indications this was race related. We have a diverse workforce that is reflective of the community we serve. All are welcome at our restaurant, and will continue to be welcome.”
